Interview: Meet Upcoming Producer Peace Galaxy

Peace Galaxy is an up-and-coming music producer based in Los Angeles. Peace Galaxy, (real name Angela Hunter) has an abstract, unique sound that sets her apart from the rest.
When asked how she would describe her sound, she answered “spaced out futuristic dopeness. Peace Galaxy’s latest project, Sample Life Vol. 1, is a seven-track hip-hop mixtape that serves as a testament to her “futuristic” and “dope” sound.
Peace Galaxy is also passionate about music for a variety of reasons, but one reason is that she enjoys how she feels from creating it.
“The main reason I am passionate about music is the feeling I get from the sounds I create,” she said. “I can get inspiration from anywhere. It can be from heartbreak, or it could be from the feeling of love. I also get inspiration from the producers I admire and respect, or something that randomly occurs.”

What is your artist name? What is your real name, and how did you get your artist name?
Peace Galaxy is my artist/producer name. My real name is Angela Hunter. I got my artist name because I’m really intrigued by outer space and everything involved with it, and I’m about good/peace vibes.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?
I decided to pursue a career in music when it felt like purpose. At that moment, I just knew that music was always going to be a part of me. Music has really always been a part of me and pulls me constantly. I decided to take it seriously and develop my skills and sound and be my absolute best.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
I do not think my upbringing played a role in defining my sound. But, my upbringing has shaped me into who I am today. I was raised with certain morals and values that I still carry with me today. I feel like you have to live by some code or morals and strive to be the best version of yourself.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I always say my sound is like the female version of Pharrell mixed with my unique, spaced out futuristic dopeness. I’m versatile with my production. I’ll go from Trap to RnB to K-Pop to AfroBeat (Caribbean) sounds, sometimes mixing them all in the same track.
What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?
I would say the calling ultimately inspired me to dedicate myself to a music career. I want to outdo myself and build my skills. When I start to surprise myself with my skills and sound, that’s what keeps me inspired to stay dedicated to the music.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
I have no hobbies outside of music lol… I work so hard. If I had to pick a hobby, it would be stargazing. To stay creative, I perfect my production of different genres. I like to create and listen to the best.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
Some of my main musical influences are Pharrell, Timbaland, Prince, 40, Kanye West, Missy Elliot, and Quincy Jones.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music?
The most important message that I hope the fans take away from the music is to just love strongly and cultivate your free-ness, and just being the best version of yourself unapologetically.
